Public bodies
The Public bodies table counts institutions we track, grouped by type. A name we intend to cover is not the same as a live source.
How it works
A live source is a body with a confirmed papers page: a council committee library, an NHS board papers list, a housing association publications page. We index the files that page already publishes. We do not invent a library from a homepage.
Officers attach when a Companies House number is present. NHS bodies attach when an organisation code is present and the papers page is real.
How to read the count
Local authorities, NHS trusts, combined authorities, business improvement districts, education bodies, police, housing associations, charities, arm's length bodies, regulators, and pension funds that already publish a papers page. The number is sources, not documents.
What this is not
Every council in Britain. Every organisation on the NHS directory. A police office, fire authority or government department we have only as a name. The Sources catalogue is the honest list of what is live and what is still planned.
