Who we are

Institrace is operated by Churchtown Media Ltd, company number 16960442, registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 5 Cambridge Avenue, Southport, PR9 9SA. Contact: [email protected].

The service

Institrace indexes records that are already public: committee papers, officer appointments, land titles, British overseas-territory filings, NHS organisation lists, published spend, published accounts, and similar official sources. Court judgments are planned and are not held. When they are, we will store metadata and named parties and link to Find Case Law. We join those records and make them searchable. We do not add facts that are not in a primary source. We do not allege misconduct. We do not give legal, financial, clinical or regulatory advice.

Licence to use

You may use the public pages of the site to read about the service. Access to the index itself needs a signed-in seat: a card-on-file trial, a paid subscription, or an invite override. Signed-in pages are not offered to search engines.

You may not scrape, bulk-download, or republish the index, the search, or derived joins without written permission. You may not use the service to attempt access to records that are not already public. You may not present Institrace output as an official register, a finding of wrongdoing, or a substitute for the original source.

Trial, payment, and cancellation

A Researcher trial needs a payment method on file. The trial lasts 14 days or until the included Ask and export credits are used, whichever comes first. One trial per email, organisation, and card fingerprint. Cancelling, swapping a card, or opening a new email at the same firm does not start a second trial. After the trial, the subscription converts unless you cancel in the billing portal. You can cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the paid period already collected. We do not charge per paper view. Staff can issue an invite override for press and firms we already trust.

Public records and third-party rights

Most underlying records remain the copyright of the body that published them. Where a dataset is released under the Open Government Licence, reuse follows that licence. Find Case Law judgments sit under the Open Justice Licence, not the Open Government Licence. NHS Business Services Authority open data used here is subject to NHSBSA copyright (Copyright 2025 NHS Business Services Authority). NHS Organisation Data Service files are published by NHS England. Companies House, HM Land Registry, and other official publishers keep their own terms. Every entry is meant to point back at the original file. If a link is stale, the original publisher is still the source.

Judgments and Open Justice

The National Archives publishes judgments under the Open Justice Licence. Computational analysis is allowed. Bulk access needs a grant. An application was sent on 19 August 2026. Until that grant, Institrace does not load judgments.

When a grant is in force we will index metadata and named parties, then link to the Find Case Law record. We will not host full judgment text. We will not run a generative model on judgment text. A party name is not treated as a person in the index. See Legal records.

Ethics

How we treat records is on the Ethics page. We do not interpret or allege. A similar name is not a join. A flag is a signal for review, not a finding. We do not have a standing external ethics board. An independent review is planned before the index is opened more widely.

Accuracy

Official sources contain errors, delays and gaps. So does any index of them. Counts on the homepage are a snapshot. Coverage is not a claim that every UK public body, every NHS invoice, or every board paper is present. You must check the primary record before you rely on anything.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Churchtown Media Ltd is not liable for loss arising from use of the index, from a gap in coverage, or from a join that a reader misreads as a conclusion. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Changes

We may change these terms as the product changes. The date above is the date of the current text. Continued use after a change is acceptance of the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
