To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, how many instances of benefit overpayments to deceased claimants have been recorded in each year since 2020.

A Direct Payment after Death (DPaD) overpayment can occur if notification of a person’s death did not arrive in time to stop a benefit payment going into their account. The process for recording a death requires administrative action by medical examiners,...
