To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what the cost to the public purse was of spending to support the installation of smart meters in financial years (a) 2022-23, (b) 2023-24 and (c) 2024-25.

The investment needed for smart metering including installation of smart meters is funded by energy suppliers. Government expenditure on the Smart Metering Implementation Programme in DESNZ in 2022-23 was £9.7m, in 2023-4 it was £9.8m and forecast expendi...
